About.

Lizzie Finn is an English illustrator who works primarily with embroidery. She has been lucky enough to work with companies such as Nokia, Oasis and Vogue.

Illustration for Volvo ‘What do you think?’ campaign.

I thought I'd start off with showing work Lizzie Finn did for advertising to show that, there is a market for random and colourful adverts. I'm not very fond of it, but the concept of having a car instead of a ship inside the glass bottle is something I've never come across before, so I find it to be a good idea. Her defining tool is stitch and she also uses a lot of different fabrics. I think this is all hand made.

Your eye is immediately drawn to the apple, because of it's bright vivid colouring but also because it is the only colour in the entire image. This isn't necessarily a bad thing though, the basic outline of the woman in her office still has a nice touch. It makes me wonder whether she is trying to show that the woman is unhappy, sitting at her desk for hours on end. Is her life empty? Is that why she is nothing but an outline?

This was my inspiration for one of my images though instead of using books I chose Cd's. I also did not use stitching and instead of using fabrics I added in colour from Photoshop. I didn't leave any of my Cd's blank, they always had writing on them but I did copy some of the type styles. For example, 'Golden Hands' is what I based 'Blind Melon' on. Though, as you can see, the only letters that match up are 'O, L, D,E and N so I had to make up the extra letters based on this font. I also put one Cd upside down and added a price tag from google images to 'Juliette and the Licks'.
